Sanepa is the residential mirror to Jhamsikhel — the same Lalitpur expat core but quieter, with fewer cafés and more 3-4 storey residential blocks. The South Asia Institute of Advanced Studies, a number of INGO regional offices, and the UN House cluster sit within 10 minutes' walk. Sanepa apartments skew towards long-stay travellers — UN employees on multi-month rotations, embassy contractors, retirees on Nepal projects — and emphasise modern conveniences: full kitchens, weekly housekeeping, fibre internet, secure parking. The Ring Road is two blocks west, putting both the airport and the inner valley within easy reach.

Sanepa runs from the Bagmati riverbank up through Bakhundole to the south. Bakhundole hosts a number of premium duplex apartments — generally the highest quality available in Patan. Saturday brunch crowds rotate between Sanepa's cafés (The Sherpa Brewery, Imago Dei) and Jhamsikhel two blocks east. The neighbourhood is well-served by Pathao and InDriver. Bhat-Bhateni Pulchowk supermarket is a 10-minute walk, with imported groceries and a pharmacy. Patan Hospital is 8 minutes' walk south. From Sanepa, Patan Durbar Square is 10 minutes by taxi via Mangal Bazaar; Thamel is 20 minutes via the Bagmati bridge at Kupondole. Sanepa is the right call if you're spending more than two weeks in the city and want the calm of a residential street with the convenience of a walkable cluster.
