Monthly stays in Kathmandu — FAQs
- How much does a monthly apartment in Kathmandu cost?
- A two-bedroom Tiny Living apartment in central Kathmandu lands at roughly NPR 145,000–195,000 / month (USD 1,100–1,500) after the 15% monthly long-stay discount. The studio with rooftop terrace is around NPR 95,000–125,000 / month. These rates include 24/7 hot water, fast fibre Wi-Fi, inverter backup, weekly housekeeping, and full kitchen utilities. The wider cost-of-living maths is in our cost of living in Kathmandu 2026 guide.
- Is there a long-stay discount?
- Yes — built into the cart. 5% off weekly stays, 15% off monthly stays. The discount applies automatically when your dates cross the relevant threshold. Direct booking adds another saving versus Airbnb / Booking.com because there is no 14–16% platform fee on top.
- Can I work remotely from a monthly Kathmandu stay?
- Yes. Every apartment has a dedicated workspace, fast fibre Wi-Fi (with an Ethernet cable for stability), inverter backup so the Wi-Fi and one lightbulb stay on through any city power cuts, and a kitchen so you can keep your own working rhythm. Time zone is GMT+5:45 — great for both European and Asia-Pacific work hours. Deeper read in our Jhamsikhel & Sanepa digital nomad guide.
- Can I extend my Nepal visa during a monthly stay?
- Yes — Nepal allows tourist visa extensions up to 150 days per calendar year, in 30-day blocks. The Department of Immigration is on Kalikasthan, walking-distance from our Putalisadak apartments. Full walkthrough in our Nepal visa extension guide.
- Are the monthly stays in central Kathmandu?
- Yes — all three apartments are on New Plaza, Putalisadak, in the central postal code 44600. 12 minutes' walk to Thamel, 5 minutes to Durbar Marg, 10 minutes by taxi from Tribhuvan International Airport. Embassy district at Lazimpat is a 12-minute walk; Patan Durbar Square is 5.2 km by car.
- What about load-shedding and power cuts during a monthly stay?
- Kathmandu has occasional 1–2 hour power cuts in dry-season months (October–April); summer / monsoon months (May–September) are largely cut-free thanks to peak hydropower output. Every Tiny Living apartment has battery / inverter backup so Wi-Fi, lights, fridge and one phone-charging outlet stay on through any city cut. See our monsoon apartment playbook for the seasonal pattern.
- Can I cancel a monthly booking?
- Direct bookings follow the per-apartment cancellation policy, usually 30+ days for a full refund and 50% from 30 days to 48 hours. Long-stay cancellations 30+ days out are typically fully refundable. Full terms in our refund policy.
- How do I pay for a one-month booking?
- Two options: Stripe (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal) for instant confirmation; or direct bank transfer to a Nepali bank account for guests already in Nepal. For longer stays we can split into monthly invoicing on request — message us on WhatsApp.
